Development of outcome indicators to assess the impact of integrating youth sexual reproductive health information programs into higher education curriculum in Jordan
View knowledge productAt the time of this project, a new curriculum jointly created by the University of Jordan (UJ) and the Royal Health Awareness Society (RAHS) aimed to blend sexual and reproductive health (SRH) with other health promotion topics into the university’s higher education program. Initially introduced as a two-week extracurricular activity for both male and female UJ students, the program utilized innovative teaching methods, including small-group interactive learning. However, at the time of this project, it was about to transition into an official elective course named “Health Promotion” available to all university students. This course covered sexual reproductive health issues alongside other health behaviours like smoking cessation and preventing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Instructors received training to effectively deliver these new teaching methods.
To gauge the effectiveness of this program, grantees for this project worked to develop outcome indicators for baseline assessment and future evaluation of the effectiveness of integrating youth SRH information programs into the higher education (HE) curriculum in Jordan. The knowledge product from this project is a report on these indicators (download below).
