View knowledge product

This proposal is part of the first step in a planned long-term (3 years) partnership between the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G) of the University of Gondar and affiliated health centres, Ethiopia (GU) and the Dutch Working Party on International Safe Motherhood & Reproductive Health (WP-ISMRH). This Share-Net grant covered the initial need assessment on-site, and the introduction of the globally renowned Liverpool School Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) training for both referral hospitals (GU) and affiliated health centres. The aim of this unique collaboration is that all healthcare providers in the region will use the same EmONC definitions and protocols. Ultimately, it would not matter in which health facility in Gondar region a woman receives her health care, as all centres will use the same initial assessment and emergency care. The knowledge and skills of trainees and the quality of obstetric care in all departments and health centres will be assessed during ongoing training and evaluation visits.

Exploring the factors that inhibit or contribute to the sustainability of school interventions on menstrual health (MH)

  • Small Grants

This project focused on assessing the sustainability of school interventions within the Ritu program and disseminating the findings. Conducted by Dhaka University with support from Simavi and Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS), the study produced data that informed a report and a fact sheet created by Simavi. BNPS utilized these materials to develop a position paper and policy brief. These resources served as the foundation for an online event hosted by BNPS and a webinar by Simavi and Share-Net. They were also distributed through social media channels and the Menstrual Hygiene Hub newsletter.
