Evidence-based Advocacy: Championing Sex Ed in Europe (CSE)

View knowledge product

CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality and YouAct, two European youth-led SRHR organizations, have collaborated on the project: Evidence-based Advocacy: Championing SexEd in Europe (CSE) project. CHOICE and YouAct, in collaboration with other youth organizations, facilitated consultations held in Bulgaria, Georgia, Macedonia, Romania, and The Netherlands. The key messages from these consultations were presented to Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with a request to address these issues. MEPs were encouraged to support the campaign to translate the research findings into tangible policy reform at the EU level, which was particularly relevant given the expected parliamentary elections between the 23-26 of May 2019.

The outcomes of this research were used to create an advocacy media campaign and a comprehensive factsheet titled ‘Advancing Sexuality Education in Europe’ (available for download below). The key messages distilled from these consultations were presented to Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), accompanied by a request to address these pertinent issues.

CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality

CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality is an ambitious and bold youth-led organization. They advocate for the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people worldwide and support them to meaningfully participate and to voice and claim their rights.

YouAct

YouAct works to empower young people to take an active role in their communities and organisations and to advocate for Sexual and Reproductive Rights as Human Rights. We believe that decisions which affect young people should be planned and formed by young people themselves. Young people should be taken seriously as capable and productive individuals. Meaningful Youth Participation in the designing, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, programs and services aimed at young people, is crucial for their success.
